Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual/Biaffectionate, Transgender, Queer, Questioning, Intersex and Ally Advisory Board

 

History:

In support of Missouri S&T Strategic Goal 3.4 to promote inclusion and increase diversity of faculty, staff, students, and administrators to remain competitive in a global environment the Office of Leadership and Cultural Programs established the LGBTQIA Advisory Board was established in May 2015. The group consists of Missouri S&T students, faculty, staff, administrators, alumni and employers.

Winners of LGBTQIA Advisory Board Annual Awards

Missouri S&T Outstanding Ally Award

This award recognizes lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual, or ally faculty, staff or student  member who contributes to a positive campus climate for LGBTQIA individuals.  This may be through offering LGBTQIA members a listening ear, being supportive, creating an inclusive curriculum or environment or any work related to challenging and working to improve campus policies and climate, providing thoughtful and inclusive programming, and/or for going above and beyond to create a safe and inclusive environment for LGBTQIA students, faculty, and staff.

Missouri S&T LGBTQIA Outstanding Student Award

This award recognizes one student for outstanding leadership, dedication, and service within the University, or in the community, that has resulted in new or revitalized resources, services, or programs for the LGBTQIA community.  This individual works to foster community to establish coalitions among the greater S&T and Rolla community.  This individual serves as a role model for their peers, and demonstrates a commitment to LGBTQIA leadership, advocacy, activism, or education.
